NEC TurboGrafx-16 / PC Engine [1987]
The TurboGrafx-16 took over from the fall of the Sega Master System. It was one of the first 16-bit systems to be released. The TurboGrafx-16 was a version of the Japanese PC Engine. With slight changes though, NEC created a controversy over the processing power whether it was actually 16-bit.
This system was the first of its kind to use this size of game cartridge. The technology was very well developed.
VERDICT |
| Its main rival to some extent being Nintendo, with the NES and the GameBoy, then later Sega still had the 2 versions of the Master System. It was definitely a valid contender against them. |
